We want our children, youth, and adults to learn about the love of God in Christ, offering opportunities through Sunday School, Adult Forums, Bible Study, Vacation Bible School, Confirmation, and Membership Classes. The Education Committee recruits, trains, listens, guides, plans, so that the door of learning in Christ's name may always be open at Hosanna. Sunday Morning Education Hour—10 a.m. September to May

Sunday School—We welcome all children from three years of age to grade six to join us in our weekly Sunday school. Our lesson each week is based on the same Bible stories we hear at worship. Throughout the year, special events and activities involve children in understanding their connection with the larger church. You may register on any Sunday simply by bringing your child to the north end of our building.
Youth Forums—for Junior and Senior High Youth focus on discussions of a variety of topics relevant to life from a Christian perspective
Adult Forum—held in the Social Room between services to hear guest speakers and discuss topical issues on a wide variety of subjects.

Bible Studies

Thursday mornings September to May—10-11:30 a.m.—For most of the year, we study the Bible readings for the upcoming Sunday; at other times our focus is on a specific book of the Bible or other relevant material.
Thursday evenings (at various times)—7-8 p.m.—to study the lessons for the upcoming Sunday.
Women's—Friday evenings, once a month (September to May)—whether following a study guide, reading a book, or watching a movie, there's always a lively discussion.
Young Adults—gather to discuss in short series of discussions throughout the year
Senior High Bible Study—Youth in Sr. High are welcome at an after-school Bible study on Thursdays, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Contact the church office for the schedule.
Alpha Course—Alpha is a ten-week, practical introduction to the Christian faith. Each weekly session begins with dessert at 6:30 pm, followed by a large-group learning time, and ends with small-group discussion and interaction.

Scholarships

Lutheran Theological Seminary Bursary

In 2007 Hosanna authorized the establishment of a bursary with the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, with an annual award to be made to a seminary student based on financial need. The bursary is known as the Hosanna Lutheran Church (Edmonton) Bursary. The amount donated to set up the bursary was the sum of $10,700.00, which came from funds previously held by Hosanna for our Churchworker Bursary program. Ongoing individual donations may be made to the Seminary to be added to the endowment. Hosanna will be also holding a special Seminary Sunday each year, at which time additional donations will be received and forwarded to the Seminary to be added to the Bursary. Anyone wishing to donate to the Bursary endowment directly should contact the Seminary at
www.usask.ca/stu/luther or by phone at 306-966-7850.

Hosanna has provided scholarships and other support for our sister parish in San Miguel, El Salvador, for almost two decades.

Membership Classes

A course is offered for adults considering membership in the Lutheran church, or as a refresher course for those who are already Lutheran. The course is offered at various time during the year. Please contact the office to register.

Devotional Materials and Canada Lutheran

Hosanna subscribes to Eternity for Today, Christ in Our Home, and The Home Altar to support individuals and families in devotions at home. Help yourself to a copy from the black counter in the narthex (just outside the sanctuary). We also encourage every-family subscription to the ELCIC's national magazine, Canada Lutheran, by offering a reduced rate and delivery to your church mailbox.

Children's Communion Workshops

A Children's Communion Workshops is offered at various times for children 4 to 7 years of age. Should you wish your child to commune before that age, or if they are older than seven, please speak to our pastors.
